About Us

Temple Beth Or, the House of Light, is a warm and welcoming Reform congregation open to all looking for a Jewish home at any stage of life. Come share your light with us.

Our Mission:
TBO is a welcoming home for Triangle Jewish life and a spiritual community where we:
•    share the sanctity of worship and ritual to mark life’s passages;
•    offer talmud torah, lifelong education;
•    pursue g’milut chasadim, acts of loving kindness; and
•    commit ourselves to tikkun olam, the Jewish obligation to help repair and improve our world.

Our Core Values:
We value belonging, inclusion, community, and lifelong learning in an evolving Jewish practice. Wherever you are in your Jewish journey, you’ll be at home at TBO.

  • Belonging: We welcome you to safely share your authentic self with us as part of the TBO family.
  • Inclusion: We encourage active engagement and leadership by all who seek Jewish connection, regardless of your race, gender, sexual orientation, religious background, political persuasion, ability, and where you are in your spiritual journey.
  • Community: We offer an array of ways to build personal connections between members and to radiate love, kindness, and justice to others outside our Temple.
  • Learning: We embrace a lifelong search for truth and knowledge and are open to innovative ways to be Jewish and supportive members of society.
  • Evolving: We seek to maintain our Jewish identity, heritage, worship, and culture even as they undergo renewal and reinvention. Our members and others in our community can rely on TBO through all life stages and for generations to come.

You’ll be at home at TBO:

If you are looking for a congregation that is involving and evolving in Jewish practice

 If you are traditional, progressive, or exploring your Judaism

If you are part of an interfaith family

If you have Jewish kids, have Jewish grandkids, or were once a Jewish kid yourself

If you grew up in the Triangle or have just arrived

If you are seeking a place to be, or to build, your authentic self

If you are asking questions or are starting to think you might have an answer or two

If you’re looking for a way to help repair our world

If you like to sing or just listen
