8:00 AM - 6:00 PMRichmond VAPlease join us on a day trip to explore Jewish Richmond! We’ll travel by chartered motor coach (with WiFi and restroom). Our first stop will be the Virginia Holocaust Museum. Our docent led tour will include a chronological journey through the Holocaust. The museum has over three hundred artifacts and includes the testimonies of local Holocaust survivors. The museum includes a German Transport Box Car, the Children's Memorial and the Jewish-American Hall of Fame. Following our tour, we’ll have lunch at the museum.
After lunch, we’ll continue on to Reform Congregation Beth Ahabah. Founded in 1789 as Kahal Kadosh Beth Shalom by Spanish and Portuguese Jews, it is one of the oldest synagogues in the United States. Our visit to Beth Ahabah will include a visit to its Museum and Archives, where stories of Richmond’s long Jewish history are retold in four galleries of changing exhibits. We will depart Temple Beth Or at 8:00 AM and return by 6:30 PM.
This trip is organized by the TBO Adult Education Committee, which is subsidizing the trip, allowing us to offer it to our congregants for a fee of only $33/person. This fee includes transportation and admission to both museums.
A Note About Lunch:
For your convenience we are arranging boxed lunches from Panera for $16. If you wish to purchase lunch, please indicate your selection below (all sandwiches are served with chips and a cookie; the salad comes with bread on the side). Bottled water will be provided, however sodas or other drinks may be purchased at the museum.
