Book Discussion: The Forest of Vanishing Stars: A Novel by Kristin Harmel. Susan Bach will lead a discussion of this evocative coming-of-age World War II story about a young woman who uses her knowledge of the wilderness to help Jewish refugees escape the Nazis. Susan will share the real-life experiences of her own parents, who were members of the Bielski partisans, a unit of Polish Jewish partisans who rescued Jews from extermination and fought the German occupiers and their collaborators .
